Sunday evening January 20 will present a lovely total lunar eclipse for North American observers. There are some interesting aspects to this eclipse, including its duration, lunar proximity, and timing that are worth noting. This talk will review these aspects in the context of all the lunar eclipses visible from Houston through the year 2060 in order to answer the question of how rare the event will be. I'll discuss what we have to look forward to in this regard in the upcoming decades.
